Unless a book or video is part of the course reserve collection, an interlibrary loan, or has a hold placed on it,
you can renew it once. There are three ways to renew your library materials:
- In person - Books and videos may be renewed at any of the four NIC library locations: Comox Valley,
Campbell River, Port Alberni or Port Hardy.
- By phone - You must speak directly with a staff member for renewals. Messages left on voicemail
will not be accepted. Your student I.D. number will be required.
- Online using Your Account. - You can renew your library materials online through your library account.
Your account enables you to see what you have borrowed and when items are due, renew and check for messages regarding
library requests and change your PIN. Follow the steps listed below to access your account and to renew your library materials online.
Please note: If you have $5 or more in overdue fines, you will not be allowed to check out or renew books or videos until you have
paid the fines. If you have more than 5 items overdue, you will not be allowed to check out or renew library materials until the items
are returned and any fines over $5 are paid.
To Renew Books and Videos Online
Start with the Library Catalogue
To check your account and renew your library materials online, visit the library catalogue. Once in the catalogue,
click the "User Services" tab at the top of the page.
Enter your PIN
Choose "Renew Materials". You will be asked to fill in your 7-digit student number or employee number,
and your PIN.
Emily Carr Students: enter your last name and first initial instead of a student number.
ElderCollege members: enter the number on your ElderCollege card.
Community Borrowers: enter the number on your Community Borrower card.
Select Materials and Renew
From the list of items, select the items you wish to renew and click the renew button. The system will confirm your
renewals and give the new due date.
