This paper aims to provide an analytical insight on the current state of knowledge on gender-based violence among people with disabilities, a topic where the level of data is relatively low.

The article offers information on the ways in which discriminatory societal structures and cultural beliefs specific to transgender people and their families can be wielded as power and control weapons by both transgender and non-transgender partners.
