Accessing Resources

When there is a single access method for the article, either PDF access option or web link with the text 'Access now' will appear. 

 or 

When there are multiple access methods, a dropdown will appear. You can choose your preferred method to view the article

When the article is on another database, the database name will be included in the dropdown menu. When clicking on the full text access option, you will be directed to another tab with the article. 

 

When the article is available from another academic library, you will see a 'Request this item through interlibrary loan' in the dropdown. Fill out the form and select 'submit' to request the item. For more information on interlibrary loans, visit the Interlibrary Loans page

When accessing eBooks, click on 'Access now' for the eBook reader to open in a new window. 

To place holds on print books: 

  1. Select the 'View Catalogue Record' button to be directed to NIC Library's catalogue. 
  2. Find 'Place Hold' option in the left-hand navigation. 
  3. Enter your NIC student number and password
  4. Choose a pickup campus, and submit the place hold request. 

When the book is ready for pickup, you will receive an email notification.

When accessing digital resources like streaming videos, you will see two options: 

  • View Catalogue Record: This will open the library's web catalogue. You can find the resource access link highlighted on the new page
  • Access Resource: This will direct you to the database where the resource is hosted.
