Sherry began her career at NIC in Port Alberni in 1992. While working as a library assistant, she earned her Library and Information Technology diploma from UFV. After 27 years with NIC, she retired from her Library Technician position in 2019. But she came back…and now works part time, enjoying the perks that come from working less hours.
In her spare time she enjoys walking, reading and growing flowers. She loves animals, especially dogs – and especially Dachshunds, which she has bred in the past.
Sherry has too many favorite books to list. A small sampling: Harry Potter series – J.K. Rowling, The Stone Angel – Margaret Laurence, The Tower, the Zoo, and the Tortoise – Julia Stuart, Angela’s Ashes – Frank McCourt, Green Grass, Running Water – Thomas King, The Yearling – Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, and The Shack – William P. Young. Favorite authors include Margaret Atwood and Stephen King. It should be noted that Sherry had extreme difficulty in culling her list.
