Citing AI in APA Style

This is a rapidly evolving field. As always, just do your best to credit your sources using the templates and examples provided, and don’t hesitate to reach out to the library with questions library.research@nic.bc.ca
Always refer to assignment guidelines or check with your instructor about permitted uses of AI tools. 

If you are permitted to use AI in your assignments, ensure you:

  • cite the use of AI in-text;
  • include corresponding reference list entries;
  • acknowledge how you used AI in your paper.

In addition, check the APA policy on using generative AI in scholarly materials.  This provides guidance for those submitting manuscripts to an APA publication.
