Guide to assist NIC faculty with Library & Learning Commons resources and services

Access Library Resources Off-Campus

Access Library Resources Off-Campus

Students, staff, and faculty at NIC can access hundreds of thousands of e-books and millions of articles from anywhere with your NIC credentials.

There are two ways to access electronic Library resources from off-campus.

1. When you run a search and try opening a PDF file or another subscription resource (streaming video or eBook), you will see a pop up asking you to input your User ID and password.

Use the same credentials you would use to login into your MyNIC account.

2. When you run a search using Discovery, the main search box on the Library homepage, you will see a yellow banner on the results page. Click "Login for full access".

Use the same credentials you would use to login into your MyNIC account.

Once you have logged into the off-campus server you will be able to run searches and open PDF files without having to continuously log in.

Tips For Accessing Library Resources Off-Campus

  • When you are navigating the databases, use the word prompts listed at the top of the page, such as "Results Page" or "Go Back",  instead of using the browser's forward and back arrows. Using the arrows will sometimes log you out.

  • Ensure that you are using the most current version of your browser
  • Ensure you have enabled cookies on your browser
  • Sometimes access problems are solved by giving the site a moment to load or by refreshing the page
