A successful research interaction stems from our ability to provide an objective, nonjudgmental interest in the reference transaction. Demonstrating a high level of interest in the research inquiries will generate a higher level of satisfaction among our students.

What we can do:

  • We always try to face the patron when speaking and listening.
  • We maintain regular online or voice contact with the patron to convey interest and  provide assurance that the query is still viable and a response is forthcoming. 
  • We signal an understanding of the students' needs through verbal and non-verbal confirmation and ask additional  questions to better understand the patron’s query.
