Website with No Author

 

When creating a reference entry for a web page with no author, use the title of the reference in its place. When creating an in-text citation, use the first few words of the title in place of author. 

Important Notes: 

  • When you are citing a webpage that has no author, use quotation marks around the title
  • Capitalize each word of the title in your in-text citation

Examples                                                                                                           

1.

Include the shortened title and year of publication in brackets at the end of a paraphrased sentence.

Note: If you are paraphrasing from a lengthy document, also include page, paragraph or heading info. 

 

Consider this a paraphrased sentence ("Wildfire Smoke", 2018).

2.

Sentence beginning with the shortened title followed immediately by date in brackets; page # in brackets at the end of the quote.

 

According to "Wildfire Smoke" (2018), "consider this a direct quote" (para. 3).

Remember, in-text citation formatting may change depending on a number of factors.
