Catalogue Search

Article databases are accessible from the NIC Library homepage at: http://library.nic.bc.ca > Articles & Databases.  Indexes available are in alphabetical order.

All databases are available off-campus to NIC students and staff.

Student username = student email

Student password = sent to them in an e-mail.

Staff username = staff email

Staff password = their normal NIC password.

Articles or citations may be printed to a local printer, e-mailed or saved to an account created within the database.  Where full text is not available online, check under Where can I get this for the holdings of NIC and other libraries. A copy of the article can then be ordered by completing an interlibrary loan form.

When doing a regular search an e-book will show up as ‘electronic resource’.  Click on ‘URL’ to view book.  E-books can be browsed or signed out at this screen (see instructions on the screen)

To search for all e-books in NIC collection:

  1. Open the Advanced Search screen

  1. Scroll down to Search Limits section (leave all the boxes blank)

  1. Item type: Electronic Book > Search.

Physical Items, and E-Books in the library collection can be searched for In Workflows under any tab. See Common Tasks > Item Search and Display and search by keyword, title, subject, author, call#, periodical title etc.

Workflows cannot be used to search the article databases, these must be searched using the OPAC
