The college's procedures for hiring student assistants are available on Sharepoint under Human Resources-Support Staff - NIC Student and Co-op employees: Hiring Manual. This manual includes the current rate of pay, as well as the forms that must be filled out during the hiring process.
Advertising
The student assistant positions should be advertised on NIC's Career Central. If this is your first time using Career Central you will need to register for an account.
Note: Staff have had difficulty downloading resume's submitted via Career Central, it is best to ask applicants to email you directly rather than allow them to submit through the Career Central website.
The student assistant positions can also be advertised via posters posted around campus, as well as by word of mouth.
Pay Rate
The current payrate is minimum wage plus 4% in lieu of benefits. Please consult the current manual before hiring.
Eligibility
Applicants must be currently enrolled as full time or part time students, and must be in good standing in order to be eligible for hire. Good standing is defined as having no current notations regarding academic standing, student conduct or outstanding fees. Email the office of the registrar with a list of applicant names to verify that they are eligible for hire.
Interview
Once you have reviewed the resumes and confirmed eligibility, you should interview and check the references of the students you wish to hire.

The Library Student Assistants provide library support by performing the following tasks:
Each year in early spring the Coordinator of Library Services will request a student assistant budget for the following fiscal year. the budgeted numbers should be provided in the following divisions:

January-March
April-May (following fiscal)
